Il Mediterraneo e i Consoli del mare di Pisa (1400-1800) and the website “Consoli del mare”

As part of the presentation Il Mediterraneo e i Consoli del mare di Pisa (1400-1800), the website Consoli del mare will also be showcased. This site contains information and digitized sources, including iconographic materials, related to the activities of the Consuls of the Sea Tribunal of Pisa. Additionally, it provides access to a database covering cases debated before the tribunal, which had jurisdiction over all maritime and commercial matters in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, as well as the port of Livorno and the merchants residing there, hailing from all shores of the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. This database offers a unique insight into Mediterranean history within the framework of global relations in the modern age.
