As every year, Incontri Mediterranei return, the Procida Summer School organized by Prof. Luigi Mascilli Migliorini, the University of Naples ‘L’Orientale’, BPER Banca and the publisher Il Mulino. This year’s dates are September 30 – October 4, 2024.
Incontri Mediterranei: topics
The theme of this year’s Incontri Mediterranei will focus on places in the Mediterranean where, for centuries, people have turned to God with equal trust, whether they are women or men of different religions—Catholics and Orthodox Christians, Jews and Muslims. Shared Holy Places, as also explained by the beautiful photographic exhibition that will be hosted in Procida as a preview before the official event in Rome for the 2025 Jubilee, have existed since the classical world, where gods interacted and were welcomed in highly varied Pantheons. In the ‘religions of the book,’ key figures such as the Madonna, Abraham, the Prophets, and the Saints serve as points of convergence for different faiths, inspiring devotions in which the rigidity of monotheisms is softened by a common trust in God’s will and mercy.
Further information and the program will be announced soon. To stay updated, follow the event’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
